Support Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland’s Speed Campaign

Today, the Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland are launching a road safety campaign to tackle speeding across Scotland.

With 1 in 5 deaths on Scotland's roads caused by speeding, we need drivers to slow down to help reduce collisions and casualties. We believe no-one should die or be seriously-injured on our roads.

This October, our campaign is running across TV, radio, cinema and digital channels, delivering a powerful message to drivers aged 25-55: Speeding. You only have to lose control once.

The campaign builds on last year's successful approach, focusing on non-built-up roads where the risk is greatest. Nearly two-thirds of people killed on Scotland's roads died on rural routes, where higher speeds make crashes far more serious - yet research shows just dropping 5mph from 65mph to 60mph could cut fatal crashes in half.
