Fitness to Drive National Roadshow 2025
The Scottish Government's Fitness to Drive Roadshow 2025 launches today, and will travel across Scotland until the end of January 2026.
About the Campaign
The Fitness to Drive campaign encourages drivers aged 60 and over to reflect on their driving skills and take positive steps to remain driving safely for longer. As we get older, deteriorating eyesight, slower reaction times and medications can all affect driving. It is important to make sure that, whenever you get in the car, you are still able to drive safely.
With 29% of car drivers killed or seriously injured on Scotland's roads in 2024 being aged 60 and over, and more than 850,000 drivers over 60 on our roads, this campaign addresses a vital road safety issue whilst respecting the independence and freedom that driving represents for many people.
Fitness to Drive Roadshow Events
Starting today, 20 October, we're taking the Fitness to Drive campaign on the road with a series of events across Scotland. Our dedicated team will visit Scottish towns and cities over the course of 56 days, providing a supportive environment where drivers can learn, and talk about, about age-related changes that can affect driving ability and discover practical steps to maintain their confidence on the road and keep driving safely for longer.
