New Let’s Do Net Zero Campaign – Do it for yourself and our planet

We are delighted to share the new Let’s Do Net Zero campaign ‘Do it for yourself and our planet’, which launches today, 17 September 2024.

The campaign has been developed to educate, motivate and support people to take climate action, reflecting that people are more likely to take action if there is a direct personal benefit.

‘Do it for yourself and our planet’ seeks to raise awareness of the importance of individual behaviour change in helping to tackle the climate emergency, focusing on two of the biggest sources of emissions from individuals in Scotland – the way we heat our homes and driving our cars.

The campaign is aiming to encourage car and homeowners across Scotland, aged 25 – 54 years old, to drive less and heat their homes more efficiently, highlighting the personal benefits of doing so, as well as helping the planet.

This is a 5 week campaign running until 20 October on TV, radio, outdoor, social and digital channels.

Key Messages

  • More than 60% of the changes needed to tackle climate change will require at least some element of individual behaviour change.
  • Nearly 50% of Scotland’s emissions come from transport and heating homes and buildings.
  • Two of the biggest sources of emissions from individuals in Scotland come from the energy we use to heat our homes and driving our cars.
  • If we each drive less and improve our home heating, we can help Scotland reach net zero and end our contribution to climate change.
  • Actions like these not only help the planet, they help us stay active, save money and feel good as well.
